Sheikh Mujibur Rahman [c] (17 March 1920 – 15 August 1975), also known by the honorific Bangabandhu, [d] was a Bangladeshi politician, revolutionary, statesman, activist and diarist, who was the founding president of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh, was assassinated along with most of his family members during the early hours of 15 August 1975 by a group of Bangladesh Army personnel who invaded his residence as part of a coup d'état.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (Bengali: শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান; 17 March 1920 – 15 August 1975) was the founder of Bangladesh. He was the first president of Bangladesh. He was also the second prime minister until his assassination.

Sheik Mujibur Rahman (1920-1975) was a charismatic leader who organized dissent and rebellion against the British in India, led the Bengalis of East Pakistan in their resistance to the unjust actions of the post-colonial Pakistani government, and finally helped found the independent nation of Bangladesh in 1972.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh during a very turbulent time after a deadly war. His inexperience in governance and the lack of capable people to run the administration cost the country dearly.
