U.S. stock futures leaned lower Friday on concern over possible export restrictions on Nvidia, ahead of key data on the jobs market. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 41 points, or 0.1%, to 42837. S&P 500 futures dropped 17 points, or 0.3%, to 5942.

Some of the biggest winners were mega-cap tech stocks, with Tesla up by 6% while Broadcom, Netflix, and Amazon each gained about 2%.

Don't ignore the market's bearish action, led by Nvidia, even as Meta and a few other stocks flashed buy signals. Tesla held a key level.

The Nasdaq Composite increased 243.30 points or 1.2% to close at 19,864.98, also booking back-to-back gains. The tech-heavy index is up 2.9% year to date, its best start to a year since 2009, when it rose 4.8%.

Dow Jones showed steep losses on the stock market today as the major indexes sold off on a robust jobs report. Delta Air Lines hit a record.

Every year, investors look forward to the “Santa Claus rally,” a period that encompasses the final five trading days of December and the first two trading days of the new year. Since 1950, the S&P 500 has gained, on average, 1.3% during this stretch, while finishing higher nearly 80% of the time, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
