Mayor Brandon King has been suspended while he faces criminal corruption charges, but city leaders can't agree on who the acting mayor is.

Citing what he calls a “power vacuum in the City of East Cleveland,” Council President Lateek Shabazz wants the Ohio Supreme Court to decide who should be acting mayor.

Brandon King isn’t done quite yet. A panel of retired judges has removed him as mayor of East Cleveland while he faces corruption charges.

It will be up to a Cuyahoga County Probate Court judge to decide who takes over running the day-to-day operations of East Cleveland while Mayor Brandon King is suspended.
