WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jamieson Greer, President Donald Trump's nominee for U.S. trade representative, will argue for a pragmatic U.S. trade policy focused on rebuilding U.S. manufacturing and shoring up supply chains in his Senate confirmation hearing on Thursday.

Jamieson Greer promised to pursue Trump's hardline trade policies in testimony Wednesday before the Senate Finance Committee.

Donald Trump’s nominee for US trade representative championed the president’s combative approach on trade Thursday while Democrats denounced it as “reckless,” saying it could hurt US consumers by raising prices and unsettling partners.

Greer previously served as the chief of staff to the trade representative during President Donald Trump's first administration.
