When Linus Ullmark injured his back in the first period against the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 22, many of the Ottawa Senators’ worst fears were realized.

Leevi Merilainen made 24 saves for his second shutout in three games and the Ottawa Senators beat the New York Islanders 2-0 on Tuesday night. Adam Gaudette and Artem Zub scored as the Senators won their third straight and snapped New York's three-game winning streak.

This looked more like the product the Islanders have put out for most of the season and the Senators came away 2-0 victors.
