The earthquake was a 4.2-magnitude quake that occurred in the Clayton area near the Challis National Forest in central Idaho. It had a depth of 11.4 kilometers. According to USGS, the earthquake was felt all the way in Boise, with several KTVB Weather Watchers members commenting on the shake.

BOISE, Idaho – A magnitude 4.2 earthquake was reported in southern Idaho on Monday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was reported just after 9:30 a.m. local time about 16 miles west-northwest of Clayton at a depth of about 7 miles.

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Idaho at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 27. Tremors were felt across Challis, Boise, Meridian, and Clayton. Two minor quakes hit the same region soon after.
