Growing the lead: Sepp Straka crafts four-shot lead entering American Express' final round
Straka’s round at La Quinta in many ways was the reverse of what might have been expected. Playing the back nine first, Straka made six birdies on the way to a 30, the kind of score generally associated with the front nine at the course that opened in 1959.

The Aussie has played consistent golf all weekend with rounds of -8, -6 and -5 respectively. Day carded seven birdies during the third round with two blemishes on holes 5 and 13. It was Straka’s day though. The Austrian shot an -8 64 on the La Quinta Course, including six birdies on the front nine alone.
