This year, athletes were joined by local organizations, middle and high school students, and Center Grove graduate and Kansas City Chiefs running back Carson Steele.

“People brave the icy cold water to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics,” said Jen Kelso, vice president of program services and chief operating officer for Special Olympics Indiana. “They will polar plunge, just a polar bear, into the cold pool.”

Frigid temperatures and snow flurries set the stage for today’s polar plunge in Vermillion, South Dakota. about 50 hearty souls signed up to take the plunge to help raise money for the South Dakota Special Olympics.

People braved the cold and plunged into the Creve Coeur Lake in this cold weather. Volunteers supported the Special Olympics of Missouri for its 19th annual ‘polar plunge’.
