Former Aston Villa boss Carla Ward has been appointed the new head coach of the Republic of Ireland through to the end of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) confirmed on Wednesday.

Republic of Ireland have announced Carla Ward as their new boss, replacing Eileen Gleeson. The former Aston Villa head coach will lead the country through their 2027 World Cup campaign after they missed out on Euro 2025 qualification. Ward's first game will see Republic of Ireland take on Turkey in the Nations League next month.
