Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec. 23. The eruption has been taking place at the the volcano’s summit crater inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. No residential areas have been threatened by lava.

The Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, erupted once more, sending lava more than 300 feet into the air during a Tuesday morning eruption. The lava has not threatened any residential areas.

Hawaiis Kilauea volcano has erupted once again, shooting lava 330 feet into the sky and drawing crowds to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. This marks the ninth eruption since December 23, 2024, with previous ones lasting from 13 hours to eight days.

Kilauea volcano began shooting lava into the air once again Tuesday on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the ninth episode of eruptive activity since Dec. 23, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said.

The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park erupted again on February 11, marking the ninth episode in a period of activity that began on December 23. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory raised the volcano’s alert level from “advisory” to “watch” and its aviation color code from yellow to orange.
