Newaygo County Deputies were called to the Croton Dam Pond Thursday night; a pair of snowmobilers had fallen through the ice.

Frederick Espy said he and his friend are grateful to be alive after being rescued from the icy water. He hopes people can learn from their story and stay safe.

Newaygo County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene along with the Croton Fire Department and Michigan State Police.

Around 10:10 p.m., deputies with the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office were sent to Croton Dam Pond after someone called to report that two people had fallen through the ice while riding snowmobiles.
