A dazzling aerial phenomenon that captured the attention of many people across Northern California on Friday morning may be connected to a rocket launch from a Space Force base. At around 6 a.m., a ball of multi-colored light with a massive tail flared over the Northern California sky.
A hiker canvassing Cascade Falls, near Emerald Bay, called authorities about 10:20 a.m. Saturday to request help for his dog, Moscow. The dog suffered injuries but was alive at the bottom of the falls, the Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
Temperatures moderate to the mid-30s by Friday afternoon. After a dry and mostly cloudy start, a round of elevation wet snow and valley rain is likely in southern Vermont during the afternoon and evening. Lighter snow showers are likely in northern areas.
