Trump aide Richard Grenell reportedly intervened on behalf of influencer Andrew Tate, who's accused of human trafficking and rape.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are charged with human trafficking in Romania, arrived Thursday in the U.S. after authorities lifted travel restrictions on the siblings, who have millions of online followers.
Romania allowed the travel after pressure from Trump officials, a person familiar with the case said. The brothers, vocal Trump supporters, were detained in 2022.
Andrew Tate has been platformed and lionized by Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump Jr. Last month, he made a joint appearance with Alina Habba, one of President Trump’s advisers, on Benny Johnson’s popular pro-Trump podcast. Habba lavished praise on Tate, and said he was in legal trouble only because, she told him, “you love what’s right.”
Counsel to the president, Alina Habba, was criticized for "sympathizing" with Andrew, a far-right influencer accused of rape and human trafficking in Romania.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate, the British American online influencers, arrived in Florida on Thursday morning after a Romanian court ruled they could leave the country, a development that raised questions about whether the Trump administration played a role in their sudden departure.
