Former Oregon Ducks cornerback Christian Gonzalez is standing up for his former head coach following the end of his second season with the New England Patriots.

New England Patriots All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez has been elevated to a superstar player in a recent update for EA’s Madden NFL 25. It’s a long time coming for one of the finalists for the AP’s Comeback Player of the Year award. Gonzalez ended up finishing fifth in voting for the award after coming off a career season.

Whether or not the New England Patriots organization handled Jerod Mayo's firing fairly, all eyes are now on what Mike Vrabel can build in for the Pats.

New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez commented on how competitive things got behind the scenes at practice against rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Gonzalez admitted Maye talks “a lot more than people think” during a recent interview on Jon Gruden’s “Gruden Goes Long” podcast.

It became clear after the 2023 season and the firing of longtime coach Bill Belichick that Jerod Mayo was Robert Kraft's handpicked successor to the coaching throne. Mayo had played with the Patriots from 2008 to 2015.
