Team Sweden announced its leadership team for the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off next month. Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was named captain, an honor he most recently held at the 2024 IIHF World Championship.

Barring any injuries, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have at least one player on each of the 4 Nations Face-Off rosters next month. Sweden’s lone Leafs representative, William Nylander, is no stranger to the national team program.

Victor Hedman was named captain of Team Sweden for the 4 Nations Face-Off on Thursday. The 34-year-old defenseman is in his first season as captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is the first time Hedman will captain Sweden in international play. He was an assistant captain for Sweden at the 2024 IIHF World Championships, where they won bronze.

William Nylander will not only be taking part in the 4 Nations Face-Off next month, but he'll also be a part of the leadership group. The Toronto Maple Leafs star was named as an alternate captain for Sweden on Thursday.
