JOLIET, IL — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is delaying the launch of a $1.2 billion effort to prevent invasive silver and bighead carp from reaching Lake Michigan out of concern that the Trump administration won’t fulfill its obligation to pay for the project.

Anticipating a lack of federal funding under the new presidential administration, Illinois has postponed construction in a long-awaited $1.15 billion project to stop the movement of invasive carp up Illinois waterways and into Lake Michigan. A groundbreaking ceremony had originally been scheduled for Tuesday.

Well, the governor of Illinois had an important announcement regarding his own renaming of long-established geographical places: First off, Gov. Pritzker announced he would be renaming Lake Michigan to Lake Illinois.
