The Lion King is a top 10 hit on one Billboard chart, and it's come very close to reaching the Hot 100 this week.

The “Lion King” prequel arrived to weak ticket sales last month, but moviegoers have since embraced it, pushing global box office returns toward $700 million.

Per Deadline, Mufasa: The Lion King is projected to earn $11.5 million through Sunday and $15.5 million through the four-day MLK holiday weekend. If the estimate holds it will boost Mufasa’s running domestic tally to $209.7 million since its Dec. 20, 2024, opening.

Mufasa: The Lion King continues its winning run at the box office as it surpasses Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to move up in 2024’s highest-grossing films list worldwide.
