Five years into the development of the Great Lakes Way trail from Port Huron to Toledo, the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is making plans to transition oversight of the project.

Mike Delong, vice president of operations at Acheson Ventures which owns the property, said work started about 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Programs are held at Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena and admission is $10 per program, unless otherwise noted.
