A 61-year-old woman's death in her apartment is considered a homicide, with her boyfriend arrested more than a thousand miles away in New Mexico.

A man accused of killing his girlfriend, whose body was found in Grand Rapids Wednesday, was later arrested in New Mexico, police say.

Grand Rapids police are investigating a death in the 3400 block of Haleh Circle SE. Officers responded about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 to the location. The area is off East Beltline Avenue, south of Burton Street.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man is in custody in connection to a homicide in Grand Rapids on Wednesday after fleeing to New Mexico. At around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to Haleh Circle Southeast, where they located a 61-year-old woman, Aleta Lung, deceased inside a residence.

Grand Rapids police say evidence led police to 47-year-old Randy Buckner who was headed to New Mexico in Lung’s car.
