Va. – People at Ponderosa Campground at Smith Mountain Lake are concerned about a growing area of debris, limiting their access to the lake. Now they're asking Appalachian Power for help.

On Tuesday night in Franklin County the Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department saved the life of a dog from the waters of the frozen lake.

Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia has 500 miles of shoreline. Built in the 1960s, the lake provides recreation and a home to many but its main purpose remains the same to generate electricity.
