Atlanta United has completed the signing of Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United. The Athletic reported on January 15 the MLS side had tabled a bid worth £11million ($13.5m) for the 30-year-old Paraguayan who will return to Atlanta six years after he left the club to join Newcastle.

Paraguay international Miguel Almiron has returned to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Atlanta United for an undisclosed fee, after six years at Newcastle United, both clubs said on Thursday. The 30-year-old winger has joined the American club on a deal that runs until 2027 with an option to extend by another year.

Almiron has made 223 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 30 goals, but has struggled recently to gain a place in manager Eddie Howe's starting line-up. Last weekend he came on as a substitute in Newcastle's 3-1 win against Southampton and waved farewell to the travelling supporters.
