definitely you should rent a car. and linda Y is correct - get the park pass upon disembarking from the plane. easy, peasy. note that two of the places you can visit on the island only allow …

definitely you should rent a car. and linda Y is correct - get the park pass upon disembarking from the plane. easy, peasy. note that two of the places you can visit on the island only allow for one trip - in other words, once you have been to these 2 locations, you may not return. we had a guided tour for the 1st day, which took us to Tangariki and Rano Raraku among a few other stops. Those two sites I mention here are best with a tour because they really have a lot of history behind them. The rest of the places to visit on the island you can do on your own. bottom line: if you do not have your own transportation, you are forced to take a lot of tours to see everything. Not to mention the town of Hanga Roa is quite a lot to explore on foot. Sure, you can see a majority
